The UVic Unity conference retreat involves a series of interactive presentations and workshops designed to actively engage youth interested in community activism and queer & transgender advocacy. It is meant to help youth better understand and identify with the ways that they can make a difference in their communities, and is open to all mature high school students, of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
The retreat focuses on educating youth about the personal, community, and advocacy issues affecting both society and queer persons today; introducing them to the advocacy and community support issues affecting our world today; and assisting them in better understanding and feeling comfortable with campus life in general.
Supported by UVic Pride, UVic Equity & Human Rights Office, UVSS Trans Alliance, Uvic Counseling Services, Anti-Violence Project, UVSS Women’s Centre, Students of Colour Collective, UVic’s Resource Centre for Students with a Disability, Island Sexual Health Society, and others.
