Anti-colonial discussion group

Via the Camas Collective Books newsletter…

please join us in conversation as we explore what decolonization of the mind, body and land means in our personal and political lives. how does anti-colonial thought and action intersect with the work and struggles we engage in and who we are to ourselves and communities?

these monthly discussion groups are open to all. we look forward to hearing from people of many backgrounds with many stories and would like to create a space that is safe enough to share and be challenged in. come with the intention of sharing, listening and learning with respect for the complex nature of (de)colonization.

we would like to facilitate the discussion group to take on a life of its own, so that all present will bring ideas and topics to share and take turns with the role of facilitation as needed.

the anti-colonial discussion group will first meet Wednesday October 3rd at 7pm at the new Camas Books & Infoshop (2590 quadra street @ kings
street) in Coast Salish Territories. the space is wheelchair accessible. please bring snacks to share if you can! we look forward to seeing you there.

the idea for the open anti-colonial discussion group came out of talks 4 white settler people were having from the now disbanded Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Working Group (IPSWG). we would also like to continue the discussions started at recent gatherings, such as the community forum in June on Transforming Colonial Relations that was organized by the Coalition to Take Action Against Colonialism (CTAAC).

the discussion group will meet during the first week of each month. for more info call 381-0585 or stop by the Camas Infoshop (2590 Quadra).

p.s. we’re looking for a name for the monthly event – please bring ideas.
